Abstract

The history of river Ganga has started in this country since the Vedic period. Ganga has been given a prominent place in Vedic literature. The Rigveda prominently describes the river Ganga, which makes it clear that the river Ganga has been revered since the Vedic period. In the Puranas, she is described as a goddess. The story of his descent from heaven to earth is mentioned. King Bhagirath brought it from heaven to earth, which made the whole country holy. The story of Gangavataran influences the literature of the country. The Puranas have associated it with the three gods Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh. She is the one who washes the feet of Lord Vishnu and comes out of his feet, it is also called Vishnupadi. In this view, she comes out of the feet of Vishnu and falls into Shiva's Jatajut. Therefore, she is beloved by both Shiva and Vishnu, who has been given the status of mother. Because Brahm resides in the form of water in Kamandalu, Brahm is also very dear to him. For this reason, the pilgrimages situated on the banks of the Ganges are the shrines of all the gods. In Kali Yuga, Ganga is considered a holy pilgrimage. Due to its journey from heaven to earth, it is called Ganga
