Main Article Content
Abstract
Due to the 73rd Constitutional Amendment of the Indian Constitution, rural women received one-third reservation, which has strengthened their social, economic, educational, and political status. As a result of women coming forward in leadership roles, they have attained powers equal to those of men. Women have demonstrated their leadership abilities, and their capacity to make decisions within the family and society has increased, leading to their empowerment. The present study is based on an individual-level analysis of five villages in the Arnia development block of Bulandshahr district, Uttar Pradesh. The study found that through women's leadership in the panchayat, not only has women's empowerment progressed, but significant advancements have also been made in village development and social reform.
