Abstract

In the present research paper, the attitudes of modern practitioners and some patients towards traditional medical practices have been presented through a case study. Traditional medical systems are an integral part of the social customs, beliefs and traditional values of the community. Traditional practitioners claim complete health benefits through their treatments. In this context, an attempt has been made to understand from modern practitioners working in the area how effective traditional medical practices are in treating diseases and how practical their use is. An attempt was also made to obtain information from patients who are undergoing or have undergone treatment from Baiga practitioners to find out what benefits they have received from these treatments. During the case study, the researcher collected relevant information from both modern practitioners working/resident in the area and patients, which has been presented in this research paper."
